catdraco: Dual Boot Install Issues: Kubuntu

It might be a long shot posting here, but I'm having some issues installing Kubuntu - more specifically, installing Grub correctly.

Have any of you successfully installed Kubuntu on a second hard drive, dual-booted with Windoze XP? Care to lend a hand?

blainn: Changing text size in application menus, etc.

Y'all were very helpful yesterday in fixing my issue with text captions for icons. Now I have a tougher one -- I want to set a minimum type size for all applications of 12px. My monitor is just too fuzzy for text that's smaller than that, and everything seems to follow KDE's lead with this. I haven't found a setting like that yet, but I was hoping somebody here would know.

And no, I'm never quite satisfied with anything out of the box. That's why I'm in the linux world to begin with. I'm currently using Xandros OCE, fwiw.

TIA

blainn: Icon caption text color

Howdy,

I've recently cross-graded from Debian/Sid via Knoppix to Xandros, which has brought a great deal of learning about how KDE does what it does, but one thing I haven't learned is how to change the color of the text that goes with the icons. Xandros has that set to white, to go with it's darkish-blue background. But I like my backgrounds, and they don't work as well with white text. A pointer on the right direction to look would be appreciated a lot.

Oh, and I'm no longer running the Xandros Desktop -- I'm using a standard KDE login now, fwiw.

spacepenguin7: KDE Heap Overflow Vulnerability Found : Slashdot

-
Slashdot, January 21, 2006:

"An incorrect bounds check has been discovered in kjs, the JavaScript interpreter engine used by Konqueror and other parts of KDE, that allows a heap based buffer overflow when decoding specially crafted UTF-8 encoded URI sequences.

It might allow malicious Javascript code to perform a heap overflow and crash Konqueror or even execute arbitrary code. Source diff patches for KDE 3.2.0 - 3.3.2 and KDE 3.4.0 - 3.5.0 are available."

6ferrets: "Most Used Applications" is frozen

I'm running KDE on Debian, and the “Most Used Applications” section of my K menu is frozen. It lists the same five applications no matter what else I run.

Any ideas on what is wrong or how to fix it?

catdraco: KDE 3.5

Just wanted to mention that I’ve just installed 3.5 on my system, and so far it rocks. I’ve been warned it’s “hideously beta”, but so far I haven’t encountered any glitches. In fact some things (like a few Firefox plugins) run better (are less buggy).

I’m running a dual-boot WinXP/Gentoo system on AMD64 architecture.

Is anyone else out there using 3.5 yet? What do you think of it?
